Yennifer Correia
Violin
Venezuelan violinist, Yennifer Correia enjoys a versatile career as an orchestral musician, educator, and chamber musician. Having performed worldwide across North America, South America and Europe, she has appeared on stages including the Lincoln Center, Teatro Teresa Carreño, and most recently at Carnegie Hall in a tribute to Philip Glass. Yennifer was appointed to the Second Violin section of the Memphis Symphony in 2019. She has appeared with many orchestras throughout the United States, including the Louisiana Philharmonic, Arkansas Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Missouri Symphony and San Antonio Chamber Orchestra among others. As a passionate chamber musician, Yennifer has participated in the Fischoff, Coleman, and Plowman chamber music competitions, and in 2005 received First Prize at the Chamber Music International Competition in Dallas, TX. In addition to performing, Yennifer is a Teaching Artist Fellow with the Memphis Music Initiative, maintains a private violin studio, and also serves in the Board of Directors of the Memphis Youth Symphony Program. Outside of her work in the classical music field, Yennifer has appeared with artists such as Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Peter Gabriel, LeAnn Rimes, Nate Smith, Don Bryant, David Porter, The Who, Weird Al, and Melissa Etheridge. Yennifer completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas, received a Master’s Degree from Rice University, and Artist Diploma from the University of Memphis.
Diane Zelickman Cohen
Violin
Diane Zelickman Cohen grew up in a musical family; her career as a musician was inspired by her mother Joan, a violinist in the San Diego Symphony, and father Robert, a clarinetist and former professor and conductor at UCSD. Diane pursued her passion at Walnut Hill, a Performing Arts High School, and then went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and a Masters degree from Arizona State University, both in Violin Performance. Diane has been a core member of various symphonies, including the Tucson Symphony, Knoxville Symphony, and currently an Assistant Principal Violinist in the Memphis Symphony. In Memphis, she found love and started a family with her husband David and their children, Arielle and Joshua. Diane enjoys running with her dog Cocoa, cooking, and spending quality time with her loved ones.
Aaron Tubergen
Viola
Aaron Tubergen is the acting Assistant Principal Viola of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. A dedicated viola and violin teacher, his students are regularly accepted into the All-West, Al-State. and A -National orchestras and frequentv hold leadershio positions in local vouth orchestras. He is a regular substitute musician with the Cleveland Orchestra, with whom he has played over 100 concerts in venues such as Severance Hall, the Adrienne Arsht Center, and Camegie Hall. In addition to playing full-time with the MSO, Aaron performs throughout the Southeast with the Atlanta Symphony. Iris Orchestra. Nashville Symphony. and records movie and video game music with Nashville Music Scoring. A native of Michigan, Aaron began playing violin at age 5 and added viola at the age of 17. He went on to study at The Cleveland Institute of Music under the instruction of Robert Vernon. Aaron was previously the Principal Viola of the award-winning South Dakota Symphony where he was often featured as a soloist. When not playing or teaching, he is a devoted father and enjoys competitive cycling.
Iren Zombor
Cello
Iren Zombor is a native of Miskolc, Hungary. After attending music college in her hometown, she lived in Bratislava, Slovakia for two years, where she studied with the famous Slovak cellist, Joseph Podhoransky. She received her Masters of Music degree in cello performance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has been the member of the Memphis symphony Orchestra since the fall of 1996, where she currently holds the Assistant Principal Cello position. Ms. Zombor has performed around the world with various orchestras as far as Eastern and Western Europe and Japan. In addition to her busy performance schedule, her passion has long been private teaching. She has taught students of all ages at all levels. She has been on the Rhodes College faculty since 2004.
